The people have spoken! The People’s Choice $50.00 cash prize winner in the Arts Council of Barton County’s October “Monsters on Main Street” competition is Andrea Braker, with”Your Spooky State Representative – Mike Kelley!” Mike Kelley as a “Lamar landmark?” Yeah, we get it! That’s awesome! And Andrea obviously put a lot of time and effort into this super-creative Halloween entry! So CONGRATULATIONS ANDREA! You can come pick up your prize at The Gallery any Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM – and now through Christmas, any Sunday as well, from 11:00 to 2:00.

A big “thank you” to everyone who entered and who made our October art show at The Gallery so much fun. Everyone can come pick up their entries during the same hours listed above. Here’s a photo gallery of all the entries – enjoy!

td_artsuppliesA big THANK YOU to everyone who visited the Arts Council of Barton County booth at Truman Days on Saturday! Our “release your inner artist” giant canvas public art project was a huge succes, with dozens of fabulous artists of all ages leaving their creative mark. The finished work is on display in the window at Nathan’s Place on the west side of the square, so be sure to drop by and check it out!

Zachary Ray was the winner of the big box of art supplies drawing. Congratulations, Zach!

trumandaysAll are invited to visit the Arts Council of Barton County booth at the Truman Days Celebration on Saturday, May 9, 2009, on the historic Lamar Town Square. Come release your inner artist! Express yourself on our giant canvas – we’ll supply the paints, crayons, markers, glitter, whatever you need to add your personal touch to this great communal masterpiece! The finished product will be proudly and prominently displayed in a storefront window on the Square for all to view long after Truman Days ends. Credit will be given to all who participate! You can also register to win a free box of art supplies! All activities are free. And come hungry! We’ll be selling (at artfully reasonable prices) fresh, home-baked cinnamon rolls and coffee during the breakfast hour, and nachos for lunch! Mark your calendar –  Don’t miss out!
